"Being so much a part of something you absorb it."
Stephen's goal as an artist is to reflect that statement and create consciously heartfelt compositions. His work is strongly influenced by the majestic and constantly changing landscape, having spent many years in the of the plains and mountains of Montana.
Stephen studied Painting and Graphic design at Bethel University, St. Paul, MN, Cornish and Seattle Pacific University. He works primarily in watercolor; juxtapositioning multifaceted color and mystical traditions. His paintings have been juried into and won local competitions; most recently the Pacific Northwest Fine Arts Exhibition. He has participated in exhibitions at Gage Academy's Steele Gallery, Phinney Ridge Gallery and was the featured artist at Living Sensual of Capitol Hill and Theatre Smeatre in Belltown. Stephen is a frequent curator at BallardWorks for the Ballard Art Walk. You can visit him in his studio at BallardWorks the second Saturday night of each month.
